About the Show

FREE ENTRY

When referring to William Wegman’s first muse, his dog Man Ray, critic Laurence Wieder asked ‘does Man Ray understand his place in art?’

Guest curator William A. Ewing playfully explores Wegman’s work and shares how the artist’s photographs of his Weimaraner reveal a passionate interest in art history and the foibles of human nature. In laughing at Wegman’s dogs, we realise we are laughing at ourselves.

SPEAKER

William A. Ewing is an author, lecturer, and curator of photography. Director of the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne from 1996 to 2010, his many publications on photography include The Body, Arnold Newman: Masterclass, Landmark and Lois Greenfield: Moving Still.
