About the Show
Prof Lynette Russell considers the lives and cultures of Australian people before Europeans arrived on the continent in the 18th century and their responses to the often cataclysmic events that accompanied colonialism.
Lynette Russell is Professor of Indigenous Studies at the Monash Indigenous Studies Centre, Monash University. She has been elected to both the Royal Historical Society (London) and the Royal Anthropological Institute (London) and held fellowships at both Oxford and Cambridge universities. She is the current president of the Australian Historical Association.
This talk is presented as part of the opening weekend of Colony: Australia 1770–1861 and Colony: Frontier Wars.
