(MATINEE) PT NEPEAN QUARANTINE STATION: HELL SHIP – THE JOURNEY OF THE TICONDEROGA

MATINEE WITH A BOOK SIGNING & PURCHASE OPPORTUNITY AFTER THE SHOW.

HER HORRIFIC VOYAGE AT AN END, SHE APPEARED AS A GHOST SHIP …

Experience the story of the Ticonderoga right where she anchored in 1852.

In 1852, the handsome emigrant clipper Ticonderoga arrived in Australia with a nightmare in her holds. One hundred of her passengers were dead, and nearly another hundred would continue to perish in quarantine.

On her 90-day voyage from England, deadly typhus fever had torn through her decks, spawning the name by which she would forever be known, Hell Ship.

Hell Ship – the Journey of the Ticonderoga is a story of hope, and hope dashed; of courage, vision and bravery. It is one of the stories of where we come from, and who we are.

It is also the story of a young ship’s surgeon on his first ever voyage, thrust into a struggle of life and death. This man was Veitch’s great-great Grandfather, James William Henry Veitch.

For Michael, this is a very personal story.

Join Michael Veitch for another important and mesmerising one-man show. FLAK had us in high in the skies of World War Two, and now we tread the decks of a creaky nineteenth-century clipper. It promises to be quite a journey.
