About the Show
Healing wounds of past injustice
Presented by Midsumma Festival and Alice’s Garage in association with Abbotsford Convent
This photographic exhibition of portraits by Lisa White (The Social Photographer) explores men’s experiences of homosexual law reform, Victoria’s expungement scheme and the apology from Premier Daniel Andrews.
Produced in partnership with Alice’s Garage, a national initiative empowering LGBTI elders, portrait subjects are captured alongside or wearing masks made to represent their experiences of the reforms. Crafted by the subjects, these masks are powerful symbols of protection, celebration and personal passage.
Never a Crime contributes to healing wounds of past injustices and affirms homosexuality as an equal way of being.
Join Anna Brown (Human Rights Law Centre) in conversation with participants from Never a Crime at 2pm on Sunday 4 February.
This project was made possible by the support of City of Melbourne.
