About the Show

Community Celebration

The baton will be welcomed at the end of the relay by the City at a shared community celebration at PW1, 4.30–6.30 pm, which will include entertainment and official speeches. The Queen’s Baton will be carried on stage by local hero Campbell Remess at 5.30 pm.

Thirteen-year-old Campbell was nominated for his charity work with Project 365 by Campbell, sewing teddy bears for sick children at Royal Hobart Hospital.

Activities include:

  • two sets by Tasmanian singer-songwriter Asta, from 5.40 pm
  • rising Tasmanian star Madelena, who will perform a set of her original songs
  • child-friendly activities, including Social Circus and Imagination Playground
  • Borobi, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) mascot
