About the Show

2 Auslan Interpreted Sessions

10:45am-11:30am

12pm-12:45pm

Celebrate our free family fun day with The Sound of Picture Books and experience a picture come to life before your eyes – and ears!

Illustrator and composer Matt Ottley and author and musician Valanga Khoza join West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s string quintet and Yamaha’s Alf Dumazi for an event that is always a Festival highlight. This unique and engaging family performance brings narration, music, imagery, drama and demonstrations of composition together to create a little magic. Ottley and Khoza co-present the captivating story of Dumazi and the Big Yellow Lion while the musicians perform music synched to the illustrations from the book on a large screen.
